Position Overview
Reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer, this role will plan and direct the accounting operations of the Company, to include the accurate compiling of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the execution and accuracy of the Company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
All areas of responsibility listed below are essential to the satisfactory performance of this position by any/all incumbents, with reasonable accommodation, if necessary. Any non-essential functions are assumed to be other related duties.

  • Responsible for the timely and accurate reporting of the Company’s financial statements.
  • Monthly review and approval of various support files needed to confirm our financials are accurately stated.
  • Assists with the oversight of the accounting team roles and work allocation.
  • Liaison with external audit and tax advisors in the completion of quarterly and annual deliverables.
  • Liaison with banks in the managing of all the Companies bank accounts.
  • Oversees the implementation of new accounting guidance.
  • Regular interaction with Executive Management on delivering information for major operational decisions and public disclosures.
  • Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
  • Oversees the timely production of the Company’s financial reports; ensures that the reported results accurately comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Oversees the reporting of the Company’s benchmarks that will be used to measure the Company’s performance and comparability to our competitors.
  • Produces monthly variance analysis’; report significant differences to management.
  • Assists with the review and approval of supporting information of the financial statements for quarterly and annual reports with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
  • Coordinates the provision of information to external auditors for audits/tax requirements.
  • Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants.
  • Oversees various cash management functions.
  • Complies with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

  • 10 years of related experience, including management and supervision of accounting department. Public accounting and public company experience a plus. Technical accounting in real estate and reporting areas essential. Knowledge of all aspects of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CPA/MBA preferred, not required.
  • Strong Excel skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software. Yardi experience a plus.
